Things Could Get Messy Apron
Dante had met up with The Wolf three days before at the same café in Toronto. Her mission on that first meet had been to get the microchip from him; her personal desire had been to throw caution to the wind. Yet, as they had sat, held hands, and sipped their coffees, every fiber of her being had said something was not quite right. She had played it cool, though, smiling, even flirting, but inside, she was disappointed. The Wolf had successfully made the exchange of the microchip. Dante had gone back to her flat to study it and pass it along to Basil, but she had also passed along her suspicions about The Wolf.
A few days later, the Wolf and Dante scheduled another meeting. He was expecting to receive follow-up intel from her to take back to his handler. Basil hadn’t unearthed anything of concern, so she had it and was ready to hand it over to The Wolf.
He’d stepped away from the table for a moment, so she ordered two coffees and waited, still not feeling right. Then, her server placed a napkin in front of her with a warning, “Don’t trust him.” She read it, taking in the weight of it. Her mind raced, but she was very clear on her next steps; she’d come prepared.
She casually reached into her Pixie boot, took the small vial out, opened it, and poured it into his coffee before his return. She’d flirted with romance with this man, but alas, he was no more than a stranger, a double agent who had to pay the price for betrayal.
He returned to his seat, smiled, and took a sip from his cup. She looked at him, gently sliding her finger along the rim of her cup, sat back, smiled softly, and thought, “If only…”
